About The Real Junk Food Project
We are a global, organic network of pay as you feel cafes. We divert food destined for waste and use it to create delicious and healthy meals. The Real Junk Food Project is a network of projects, charities and volunteers, steered and advised by our trustees and other experts and activists from a range of fields and industries.
What do we do?

Why do we do this?
- Roughly one third of the food produced in the world for human consumption every year — approximately 1.3 billion tonnes — gets lost or wasted – Sources: Global Food Losses and Food Waste – FAO, 2011
- The environmental crisis: The environment’s role in averting future food crisis – UNEP, 2009
