Everyone has the right to enjoy safe, nutritious and sustainable food. This project advocates the realisation of the Right to Food in UK law. Around 8.4 million people in the UK struggle to get enough to eat, whether because of low household income, debt, disability or personal crisis. The huge growth in charitable food banks over recent years illustrates that many people live precariously on the edge of hunger.

IFAN is mapping the UK’s independent food banks and emergency food parcel distributors. Find out more about the extent of UK emergency food parcel distribution outside of the Trussell Trust foodbank network here. With at least 803 independent food banks operating across the UK, the independent sector represents nearly 40% of the food bank picture.

Green Lane FoodbankGreen Lane Foodbank

Green Lane will issue food vouchers to local organisations. They act as referral partners and give the vouchers to people whom they consider need food. The people then come to Green Lane where they exchange their voucher for food. Green Lane will help anybody who needs support; the old, single people, young people & families from all backgrounds, religious beliefs and ethnic origins, without prejudice.

Veganuary is a charity inspiring people to try vegan for January and throughout the rest of the year. There are so many reasons people decide to try vegan. For most, a love of animals is the catalyst. Some people want to feel better about themselves and the impact they make on the world. Others would like to set themselves a challenge, and many combine Veganuary with their ‘New Year’s Resolutions’ and see trying vegan as the healthiest start to the year.
