June 2006 – Wolverhampton Foodbank started as a small pilot project at The King’s Church,Wolverhampton.
February 2010 – after lots of prayer, believed the time had come to develop into a citywide, inter-church Foodbank, an expression of Jesus’ love for those in need in our City.
April 2010 – Trustees appointed from 4 churches across the City.
June 2010 – Achieved Charity status.
September 2010 – moved to larger storage space near the city centre – the next step in developing the project. And in April 2011 – Our team of volunteers has grown to 10+ from 7 different churches.
WHO ARE THE NEEDY IN OUR CITY?…
-families with babies and young children-women fleeing domestic violence-young people leaving care, with no family support -older people, isolated & struggling on low pensions-people working to come off drug & alcohol dependency-those who have been homeless, moving into accommodation-refugees & asylum seekers, not allowed to work, or claim benefits-those impacted by benefit delays & mix ups-discharged home from hospital.
